Many monospaced fonts are created with narrow signs, where there are serifs. For wide characters, the average thickness of strokes is usually characteristic. To "0" is not labor to distinguish from the letter "O", designers often cross out the number diagonally or add non-standard design elements. Today, kits are used to highlight software code, as well as in the IDE and consoles of popular operating systems.
